Water is a unique resource in that not only is it essential for the survival of all species, it is central to any form of economic and social development. In agriculture and industry, water is a raw material required for the production process. Uniquely, we respond to water as itself and find pleasure, contentment and meaning in it. Water also shapes culture. Effective and sustainable water management requires an understanding of the various relationships between water (as both commodity and natural resource) and the social, economic, technological and environmental contexts within which it is exploited. It is essential to reduce the vulnerability of poor people and achieve environmental sustainability. Water is essentially richly complex.
Environment is the physical and biological factors along with their chemical interactions that affect an organism. The biophysical environment is that part of Earth in which all life occurs. The biosphere and the physical components of the Earth (atmosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere) are coupled together to form a complex interacting system that purports to act in a homeostatic fashion to preserve climatic and biogeochemical conditions on Earth that are suitable for living organisms. According to the majority of scientists the ability of the earth to act in this manner have been severely compromised through the action of man. The environmental damage has caused devastation in the already impoverished lives of the poor. In this section will be considered the effects of climate change affecting rainfall, agriculture, internal and international population migration and other effects of greedy and selfish human action.
